Classic Jaguar E-Type Bodyshells

Bodyshell Production History

Martin Robey Engineering Limited has been producing completely new Bodyshells for Classic Jaguar E-Types since 1982. After restoring several Bodyshells it became apparent that they all suffered similar corrosion problems. When the corrosion damaged panels were removed, it revealed further corrosion and undesirable repairs. Once all corrosion was removed, there was never much of the original body left before the rebuild could take effect. Due to this, it was decided to produce the few remaining panels that were not in production, whilst simultaneously producing new Bodyshells. Throughout the years, Martin Robey Group has become very experienced in the production of Jaguar E-type Bodyshells and provide only the highest quality products.

To allow for a tailored service that can accommodate every customer, three Bodyshell systems were created: System I, System II and System III. These systems offer the Bodyshell in different stages for the experienced customers who wanted to rebuild a Bodyshell from an early stage in production, there are various combinations available which can be tailored to any customers needs.

Bodyshell Production

Martin Robey Bodyshells only use the highest quality Martin Robey Engineering Limited body panels which are manufactured on-site to the highest standard possible. They are pressed out, laser profiled and assembled using Motor industry methods and equipment, quality appearance and dimensional accuracy to the original specification. Being able to produce these high-quality parts is an important feature of the Martin Robey Bodyshells.

The build process involves using subunits such as Bulkheads, Floors, Rear End Assemblies etc., which are all assembled on several major assembly jigs which locate key mounting points
throughout the build process, professional Spot Welders are used to give an original appearance and adhere to the original design.

Series 1, 2 and 3 models are available in both Drop Head Coupe and Fixed Head Coupe variants. The completed Bodies are Lead Loaded, Cleaned off, the door seals are fitted to give a
better than original fit to Door, Bonnet gaps etc. External Chrome work is trial fitted prior to leaving the works where the Body Shells can be ready for the Paint Process.

System Re-Builds are available normally in approximately 18-26 weeks from order and deposit.
